Commands Or Suggestions

When we study the Bible we should often ask ourselves: Is this a command or a suggestion? Is this mandatory or is it an option? Our attitude toward God should be Your slightest wish is my command. We too often reverse that and think this is not His command, it is only His wish. We thereby change the truth of God into a lie. The following commands would be a good blueprint for a Christian*s life.

2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

1 Thessalonians 4:11: And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

1 Thessalonians 5:17: Pray without ceasing.

Hebrews 10:24: And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Mark 16:15: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

We can only obey our part of the last two commands if we become missionaries ourselves or if we faithfully attend and support a Biblical church that supports missionaries.
